Full job description Falmouth High School is seeking a dynamic and innovative full-time Social Studies teacher starting in the 2025/2026 academic year. The ideal candidate is passionate about history, psychology, civics, and economics education, makes strong connections with adolescents, and is highly skilled in differentiation for a range of learners. They will teach a range of student-centered classes designed to empower learners, as well as work with students in small groups and 1:1 settings to provide additional support. Other full-time faculty responsibilities include serving as an advisor and taking an active role in the school community in support of student learning and wellness. Falmouth teachers are expected to engage in ongoing professional learning, authentic collaboration with other faculty and staff, and regular goal-setting and reflection.

  • is passionate about teaching social studies as a vehicle for developing students' capacity to be caring and engaged community members
  • has a genuine concern for students' academic growth and character development
  • has a strong educational background and teaching experience in social studies
  • is capable of teaching a broad spectrum of classes and excited by the prospect of interdisciplinary instruction
  • has a demonstrated history of employing innovative pedagogies that are grounded in a strong understanding of adolescent development and learning theory
  • possesses the ability to differentiate instruction and help students master the subject matter despite different skill levels or ages
  • shares instructional resources with colleagues
  • prioritizes positive collegial interactions and collaborative relationships with other teachers
  • possesses excellent communication and organizational skills
  • works to integrate innovative technological tools into their teaching practices
  • has an interest in curricula innovation and the use of new methodologies to inform their approach to teaching social studies

Qualifications:
  • Current Maine Teaching Licensure (Social Studies 7-12)
  • Experience preferred
  • Approved background check (run by the district).
