TITLE: Multilingual Ed Tech III, Spanish - King Middle
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Portland Public Schools is seeking a Multilingual Ed Tech III, fluent in Spanish and English. Under the direction of the Principal, assists teachers by performing a variety of tasks that promote the learning and well-being of our Spanish-speaking multilingual students. Duties involve working with students individually and in small groups to assess performance, reinforce instruction, and motivate learning, as well as assisting with classroom management and performing clerical / other non-instructional work.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to speak both Spanish and English fluently
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of students, parents, or employees
  • Ability to interact with staff, students, parents, and others in an open, friendly, business-like manner

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Approval as an Educational Technician III by the Maine Department of Education; in the alternative, Maine provisional or professional teacher certification
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a college degree that includes nine credit hours related to an education field such as behavior management or classroom strategies, and to candidates who have at least one year of experience working with students in structured situations

EMPLOYMENT DETAILS:
  • School-year position
  • Permanent
  • Full Time, 1.0 FTE
  • Hourly position, eligible for overtime
  • Covered under the Ed Tech contract (see 2024-2027 CBA here)
  • Wage based on level of certification and years of experience, as outlined in CBA
