SUMMARY: Work collaboratively and iteratively to assess, generate reflection, and plan for dialogue between students, staff, parents, and administrators in order to build relationships and solve problems so that our school community can be safe and productive for everyone. Salary Range: $ 51,995 - $62,066
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as the building leader on restorative practices by collaboratively creating an implementation plan together with teachers, students, community partners, and parents. As part of the implementation plan identify opportunities to:
- train teachers on use of community circles and restorative dialogue in the classroom to build community and solve small behavior issues;
- work with the Devil's Advocate committee to implement community building circles in DA;
- lead restorative dialogues when a student receives an office referral to determine the root of the problem;
- assist the ISS coordinator in using restorative practices to teach students how to change their behavior;
- assist the Dean, Vice Principal, and Principal in developing options for restorative practices and a procedure for determining when these options will replace detention and suspensions; and
- lead building-wide trainings on cultural competency and anti-bias and ensure that
all restorative practices systems are based in culturally competent practice.
- Communicate well and build positive relationships with students, parents, teachers, and the community, including:
- meet regularly with students, staff, parents and community members and
- lead staff trainings in cooperation with student groups and community agencies as appropriate.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Ability to operate equipment including but not limited to photocopying machines and computers. Ability to assume responsibility for supervising students, understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and School Committee policies.
