The Oxford Hills School District is looking for Substitute Bus Driver.
We are seeking a dedicated and responsible Substitute Bus Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about providing safe and reliable transportation while delivering exceptional customer service. As a Substitute Bus Driver, you will play a crucial role in ensuring passengers reach their destinations safely and on time, while also educating them about routes and schedules. The candidate for this position will be called in on days that coverage is needed for our route drivers. This position does not come with an assigned daily route. An ideal candidate would also have general knowledge of the Oxford Hills towns.
Duties
- Safely operate a bus along designated routes, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations.
- Communicate effectively with passengers, providing information about routes, schedules, and any changes.
- Educate passengers on safety procedures and proper behavior while on the bus.
- Maintain a clean and orderly bus environment for the comfort of all passengers.
- Perform routine inspections and basic maintenance on the bus to ensure it is in good working condition.
- Address passenger inquiries and concerns with professionalism and courtesy.
- Document any incidents or issues that arise during transportation.
Experience
- Proven experience in bus driving or similar roles is preferred.
- Strong mechanical knowledge to perform basic maintenance tasks on the bus.
- Excellent customer service skills to interact positively with passengers.
- Proficient in writing reports or documentation as needed.

OXFORD HILLS REGION
The Oxford Hills School District (MSAD 17) comprises the towns of Norway, South Paris, West Paris, Oxford, Waterford, Harrison, Hebron and Otisfield. MSAD 17 shares vocational resources and accepts students in its Oxford Hills Technical School programs from the RSU10 School District towns of Buckfield, Hartford and Sumner. Oxford Hills/Nezinscot Adult Education is located within the Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School.
The Oxford Hills offer a variety of outdoor resources for anyone wishing to enjoy the region, whatever the season. The area boasts more than ten lakes and ponds for outdoor recreation, a land trust with hundreds of acres for skiing, snowshoeing, and is in close proximity to several downhill skiing areas!
