About the Team/Role 
The Solutions & Systems Architect will play a crucial role in designing and delivering enterprise-grade technical solutions that align with business objectives. This position bridges the gap between enterprise architecture and implementation teams, ensuring solutions are secure, scalable, and maintainable while adhering to architectural standards and best practices.

How you'll make an impact

  • Lead the technical design and architecture of complex enterprise solutions, ensuring alignment with business requirements and enterprise architecture standards
  • Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture to develop and maintain technical roadmaps, reference architectures, and solution blueprints
  • Partner with Product Managers to understand business needs and translate them into robust technical solutions
  • Work closely with CyberSecurity teams to ensure solutions meet security requirements and follow security-by-design principles
  • Provide architectural oversight and guidance to development teams during solution implementation
  • Evaluate and recommend technologies, frameworks, and platforms that align with organizational strategy
  • Create and maintain solution architecture documentation, including architecture diagrams, design patterns, and technical specifications
  • Assess technical risks and provide mitigation strategies for complex initiatives
  • Guide cross-functional teams through technical decision-making processes using architectural decision records (ADRs)
  • Develop proof of concepts to aid in technology evaluations and fostering innovation

Experience you'll bring 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in software development and architecture
  • 5+ years of experience in solution architecture or systems architecture roles
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks and methodologies
  • Extensive experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • Deep understanding of software architecture patterns, distributed systems, and microservices
  • Experience with containerization, orchestration, and cloud-native technologies
  • Strong background in security architecture and secure design principles

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Professional certifications in relevant areas (e.g., AWS/Azure/GCP, TOGAF, Security)
  • Experience with API design and management
  • Knowledge of event-driven architectures and domain-driven design
  • Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
  • Background in data architecture and analytics platforms

Technical Skills

  • Architecture & Design: Enterprise architecture frameworks, solution architecture, systems architecture, security architecture
  • Technologies: Cloud platforms, containerization, microservices, API design, AI/GenAI
  • Tools: Architecture modeling tools, documentation platforms, SDLC tools
  • Methodologies: Agile, DevOps, security-by-design
  • Tech Stack Understandings: C#, MSSQL, React. (While these are nice-to-have skills they will be helpful in relating to our engineering teams)

The base pay range represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position. Actual pay rates will vary and will be based on various factors, such as your qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. Base pay is one component of WEX's total compensation package. Most sales positions are eligible for commission under the terms of an applicable plan. Non-sales roles are typically eligible for a quarterly or annual bonus based on their role and applicable plan.
