Accounting and Payroll Assistant

Brann & Isaacson is seeking an experienced accounting and payroll assistant to join its administrative team.  Primary responsibilities include payment processing, deposits, accounts payable, payroll processing, basic benefit administration, and general accounting support.

Essential Responsibilities:

Process payments and deposits, prepare checks and transfers for accounts payable, prepare and post journal entries while following generally accepted accounting principles and established internal procedures and policies. 

Accurately process bi-weekly payroll with third party payroll vendor in compliance with internal policies and procedures, and labor and tax laws.  Prepare reports for payroll related payments and associated general journal entries.  Maintain payroll and PTO records.  Ensure coverage and scheduling of PTO.  Provide instruction on payroll software to users. 

Review and reconcile benefit invoices for payroll deductions.  Provide basic benefit administration. 

General Requirements:

2-3 years of recent accounting experience with a solid understanding of accounting principles, accounts payable and general billing experience. 

Experience with third party payroll software and 3-4 years of current payroll experience.  Solid understanding of federal and state labor laws as it applies to payroll processing.

1-2 years of basic benefit administration including enrollment and changes to employee benefits. 

Comprehensive understanding of confidential information management, and the ability to strictly maintain confidentiality.

Strong computer skills including the intermediate use of Adobe, Excel, Word, third party payroll software, and accounting software.

Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy. 

Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.

Associates degree in accounting or business management preferred.
