This is a full-time position located in Augusta. This opportunity allows partial telework with management approval.

The Maine CDC Comprehensive Cancer Control Program (MCCCP) is funded solely through a federal CDC Cooperative Agreement. The charge from the Cooperative Agreement is to provide collaborative planning and implementation of evidence-based cancer prevention, and control strategies in communities that improve the provision of clinical preventive services, and cancer survivorship. The program accomplishes this by collaborating with the statewide cancer coalition to implement an annual workplan that closely aligns with the existing Maine Cancer Plan. MCCCP works closely with the three other cancer programs within Maine CDC – the Maine Cancer Registry, the Maine Breast and Cervical Health Program, and the Colorectal Cancer Control Program.

MCCCP is looking for an individual who can work collaboratively with both internal and external partners and assist the coalition in engaging a wide variety of stakeholders to implement the goals and objectives of the program’s workplan as well as the Maine Cancer Plan. This position designs and implements policy, systems, and environmental interventions that support the prevention and early detection of cancer, and the quality of life for cancer survivors. The CHP-II oversees data collection projects to inform programming activities as well as develop reports, plans, and other documents as needed to share progress and outcomes for both internal and external partners including the National Comprehensive Cancer Control Program.

Core Responsibilities:

• Assist/facilitate coalition meetings
• Collaborate with coalition partners to implement the Maine Cancer Plan
• Assist with annual federal reporting and bi-monthly updates to the program’s federal Project Consultant
• Develop health communication products to promote cancer prevention and early detection, and to address cancer survivors’ needs
• Design and implement policy, systems, and environmental interventions that support the prevention and early detection of cancer and quality of life for cancer survivors

Minimum Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s Degree in Public/Community Health, Health Administration, Health Sciences or Health Education; Public Administration, Government, Social Work, or a closely related field and three (3) years professional experience in the planning, development, coordination and/or evaluation of health programs or services -OR- an equivalent seven (7) year combination of education, training, and experience.

Preferred candidates will also have:
• Grant management experience
• Strong health literacy and plain language skills with an eye for detail
• Experience working in public health
• Ability to gather, synthesize, and summarize a variety of information and data into a consumer-friendly format
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse groups of both internal and external partners
• Motivated, self-starter with leadership skills who can work independently and in a collaborative group environment to complete a project
• Effective time management and organizational skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
