JOB SUMMARY AND SCOPE
The Clinical Informatics Specialist, as a member of the Clinical Informatics Team, plays a critical role in the ongoing training and support of our Providers and physician office staff and supports the mission and vision of Down East Community Hospital and Calais Community Hospital.

- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing or related clinical degree/certification in other healthcare fields-i.e., respiratory therapy, medical assistant, laboratory science, etc.
- Current knowledge of clinical practices and related information systems and computer applications is required.
- Intermediate to advanced experience with computer software including but not limited to Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint or equivalent Office System.
- At least two years of clinical experience is required. Cerner Oracle EMR experience preferred.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills. Professional interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also demonstrating the ability to work effectively as a team member and team leader.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Foster and maintain strong relationships within the clinical practice setting for inpatient and outpatient staff.
- Assists in developing new workflow processes and/or the changing existing workflow processes in conjunction with the leaders of clinical areas as needed
- Provides clinical support by answering user questions and troubleshooting user and system issues
- Provides input to management regarding educational needs of end-users, individually or collectively
- Train clinical staff including physicians on existing EMR systems as well as further clinical enhancements to the EMR systems as directed
- Works with Informatics Director to implement learning modules and or systems and other initiatives.
- Frequent communications with department personnel and department heads to include but is not limited to development, training, implementation, staff progress, support and remediation needs which includes communicating efficiently by e-mail and fax
- Working within the organization, clinics, physicians, and students regarding clinical and the correlated computer training needs and outside organizations such as third-party vendors and other support teams.
- Routine meetings with clinical staff and clinical management to assist with clinical system enhancements.
- Independently research regulatory initiatives impacting clinical education; Independently research, develop, critique, and provide educational offerings.
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of, and commitment to, the hospital’s mission, vision, and values as well as service excellence standards while completing all tasks and responsibilities.
- Ability to integrate goals, mission, and vision of organization into educational programs.
