Our growing client in South Portland is looking for a Payroll Specialist to join their team.

Payroll Specialist

Job Summary:
Manage and process employee payroll efficiently, ensuring accuracy in wages, taxes, and benefits. Handle payroll-related inquiries, maintain compliance with laws, and support financial and administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process and verify payroll (weekly, biweekly, monthly).
  • Review employee timesheets and ensure accuracy.
  • Calculate wages, deductions, and benefits.
  • Manage direct deposits, tax filings, and compliance.
  • Maintain employee payroll records and update information.
  • Oversee payroll software and electronic timekeeping.
  • Process Certified Payroll reports and year-end tax forms (W-2, 1099).
  • Assist with audits, expenses, and employee certifications.
  • Provide general office support, including answering calls and booking accommodations.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in payroll software, Microsoft Office, and accounting systems.
  • Knowledge of payroll laws and regulations.

Education & Experience:

  • Associate degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or Finance.
  • 3+ years of payroll experience.
  • Experience with Certified Payroll and the Davis-Bacon Act preferred.
Immediate need. Onsite. $30-34/hr.
