Sumner Memorial High School is a part of the larger Charles M. Sumner Learning Campus, which also houses Sumner Middle School, located in Sullivan, Maine. Sullivan is located approximately 15 minutes east of Ellsworth, our county seat, and 40 miles east from Bangor. In addition, we are just a short drive to Bar Harbor and the beautiful Acadia National Park. Our Learning Campus opened in August of 2022 with Sumner Memorial High School housing approximately 280 students in grades 9 through 12, while the educational campus itself holds approximately 500 total students in grades 6-12.

This full-time position will begin with the start of the 2024-2025 school year. We are seeking a dynamic World Languages teacher who is both fluent and passionate. We are open to reviewing any application from anyone who is certified (or certifiable) in ANY language. We currently offer Spanish, French, and Japanese at Sumner. The ability to teach multiple languages is highly valued. In addition, we are seeking someone who is familiar with current trends in teaching languages and culture methodologies. The World Languages program is proficiency-based and aligned with the ACTFL World Readiness Standards. We are seeking a teacher who is willing to collaborate with other members of the department as well as work independently.

A successful candidate must hold or be eligible to hold or be able to obtain a Maine Educator Certification with a current MDOE Criminal History Records Check. Pay is based upon experience and level of education.
