ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
MAINE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
AUGUSTA, MAINE
The Office of the Clerk of the House, an office within the Maine Legislature, is seeking applicants for an Administrative Assistant. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. When the Legislature is in session, those hours are likely to be extended in order to properly serve the public.
The successful applicant for this position works with great independence and performs a variety of duties up to and including: interacting with legislators and staff on a daily basis; preparing and formatting official legislative documents; proofreading the journal and register; overseeing and managing the Hall of Flags reservation system; processing all incoming and outgoing mail; may handle petty cash and deposits; may serve in backup roles in the House Chamber and may order supplies and oversee inventory on a timely basis. Ideally, the applicant will possess established computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe In-design.
This is a pivotal position serving elected members of the House of Representatives and the elected officers of the House. The successful candidate is flexible, cordial, respectful, and willing to apply innovation to assist their coworkers, members of the House, other government officials, and members of the public.

Pay commensurate with experience with the range being $50,086.00-$80,745.60. The bi-weekly dollar values of some State-paid benefits for full-time employees include $14.92 for dental insurance; 13.29% of employee’s pay towards retirement; and at least 85% ($466.54) of health insurance premiums.
