Kennebec Behavioral Health, established in 1960 to provide comprehensive behavioral health services and named one of the Best Places to Work in Maine for the last 4 consecutive years, is currently seeking qualified candidates for Grant Accountant in our Financial Services Department. The Grant Accountant is responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual grant reports. The position is also responsible for oversight of filing and all reporting related and required by state, federal, and private contract and grant funders; and, takes primary responsibility for the preparation of grant compliance documents for submittal to state, federal, auditing, and financial institutions as required under contractual agreements.

Some of the primary (essential) job duties will be:

  • Prepare, maintain and generate timely reports of internal and external financial records by maintaining daily, monthly and annual and other periodic grant statements; and preparing monthly account reconciliations
  • Assist with audits, budgets, reporting, tax returns, etc., as needed
  • Establish and maintain effect communications with Agency personnel and management thru regular contact and providing reports and convey information necessary for grant management; and, keeping management informed of grant activities and responsibilities

Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance or relevant business experience. Knowledge of accounting software and Excel experience. Desired knowledge includes Great Plains and FRX, Microsoft Office, GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), Uniform Guidance and other regulatory regulations, Non-Profit accounting, Multi-Corp accounting, Analytic skills and the ability to work independently.
