Central Maine Healthcare is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our Internal Medicine team!
This is a Full Time, benefits eligible position.
Position Summary:
Coordinates and performs clinical functions for the practice. Collaborates as needed with other health care disciplines to meet the needs of the patient and/or family. Demonstrates and promotes the organization's philosophy of excellent customer service and high quality care. The Clinical Coordinator acts as the patient's advocate, manages supplies and equipment, and promotes teamwork with staff, providers, and personnel in other departments. The Coordinator practices in accordance with CMH'S Clinical Policies and Procedures and HIPAA policy. Maintains performance improvement (PI) activities within the department and participates in PI activities.
Education and Experience:
- RN licensure in the state of Maine and 2 years of nursing experience preferred but not required.
- Current BLS certification.
- 5 years Medical Assistant /office management experience preferred.
- Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in physician's office preferred.
Essential Duties:
- Serves as the champion of the patient experience
- Engages patients utilizing exceptional customer service practices in alignment with the Five Must Haves;

- Assists with various personnel actions including, but not limited to hiring, orientation, performance appraisals, promotions and scheduling; and counsel and conduct formal discipline of clinical staff.
- Participates in the development, implementation and expansion of learning opportunities and skill development for all staff. Analyzes, develops and maintains an effective and efficient care delivery system that reflects patient and family needs across the continuum; achieving desired outcomes.
- Promotes education for patients, families and the community; participate in direct patient care activities as a targeted strategy for role modeling or information gathering.
- Collaborates with colleagues to promote optimal utilization of resources among the various clinics.
- Identifies clinical operational needs; manage appropriate level of equipment and supplies and monitors equipment maintenance. Assess the environment and make recommendations to ensure optimal patient comfort, safety and compliance with various regulatory bodies (OSHA, Joint Commission, etc.).
- Collaborates with leadership in determining the fiscal requirements of the specific clinic; submit budgetary recommendations, including necessary nursing personnel and patient care materials necessary for the provision of care. Develops and implements processes to enhance clinic operations and practices for ongoing quality improvement.
- Develops, documents, implements and monitors written policies and procedures reflective of the CMH policies and procedures including HIPAA.
- Manages day to day clinic operations in absence of the Practice Manager.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
