Summary:

The Director of Human Resources plays a pivotal role in managing and developing our workforce within MDI Hospital and Birch Bay Retirement Village. This position encompasses all aspects of human resources operations, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, wellness, safety, training, compliance, and strategic planning. The director possesses strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of Human Resources best practices, and a passion for promoting a positive work culture that aligns with the hospital's mission and values. The Director of Human Resources will work closely with legal counsel and senior management to ensure compliance with applicable labor laws and regulations throughout the collective bargaining process. This additional responsibility requires strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills to effectively represent the hospital's interests while maintaining positive labor-management relations.

Requirements

Education, Training, or Certifications Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field; Master's degree preferred.

• SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification preferred.

Experience Required:

Minimum of 7 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.

Special Requirements:

• Strong knowledge of HR laws, regulations, and best practices.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

• Proven ability to lead and develop a high-performing HR team.

• Experience working in a healthcare or hospital setting preferred.

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.

• Demonstrated experience in labor relations and collective bargaining, preferably in a healthcare or hospital setting.

• Knowledge of labor laws, including the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA) and other relevant regulations.

• Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.

• Ability to build positive working relationships with union representatives and employees.

• Experience in contract administration and interpretation.

• Understanding of healthcare industry dynamics and challenges related to labor relations.
