Full job description
South Portland High School is looking for a knowledgeable teacher who has a passion for teaching students with disabilities in a diverse high school setting.
This position is for a certified special education teacher who can provide special education instruction and resource support. This position requires creativity and problem solving to match teaching objectives, learning strategies, and instructional plans with students’ abilities.
Candidates must be an excellent communicator, effective supervisor of educational technicians, a strong team player within their classroom, as well as a member of a dynamic team of special educators. Job Responsibilities/Requirements: Special Education Law Knowledge Complete paperwork (Written Notices, IEPs, etc) to meet regulatory requirements Data Collection for academic, functional, and behavioral goals Strong understanding of literacy skill progression Collaborative Work Ethic Knowledge of best teaching practices for identified students Supervision, Coaching, and Support for Educational Technicians Collaborate with service providers to create individualized schedules for students to ensure all IEP requirements are met. Advocate for students within the larger academic community.
State of Maine Teacher of Disabilities 282 (7-12) certification required.
