The Pharmacy Medication Reconciliation Technician assists the providers and Pharmacists in providing safe and effective medication therapy to all patients.
The (MRT) is responsible for accurately collecting and entering patient’s current medications, allergies, and medication sensitivities into the hospital’s information system upon admission. The MRT will primarily be working in the Emergency Room with frequent contact with patients, nurses, and physicians. This position requires the technician to be flexible with scheduling needs and be able to perform regular technician duties including IV preparations, medication distribution, Pyxis maintenance, assistance with inventory management, clerical duties, and other responsibilities as required by a pharmacy manager.
High school diploma or equivalent required
Pharmacy Technician Certification preferred
Medical Reconciliation Technician (MRT) Certification preferred
1-3 years experience preferred in a hospital setting
Other skills required
Computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word required
Medical Terminology required
Must be fluent in the English language.
Must be able to demonstrate effective interpersonal skills and possess good oral and written communication skills
Must be able to communicate effectively with patients, families, and hospital staff in accordance with established policies and procedures
Must be able to demonstrate patient centered/patient valued behaviors
Must be organized and achieve a high level of accuracy in daily work
Must be able to work well under pressure
