Adult Education Program Coordinator

The Gorham School Department has an opening for an Adult Education Program Coordinator. This is a school year position.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Gorham Adult Education is seeking a qualified Program Coordinator to join our team. This person is responsible for working directly with the Adult Education Director and team in planning, coordinating and assisting in all activities related to the academic and workforce training programs. The Program Coordinator works with the adult education team to create a welcoming environment for adult academic and workforce training students to thrive. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys advising and helping adult students achieve their goals. Experience working with adults, low income, at-risk individuals is preferred. Knowledge of career pathways, college transitions, apprenticeships, and working with nontraditional students is a plus. This position requires both administrative, outreach, and teaching responsibilities with very strong attention to detail.

The successful candidate should possess the following:

  • Bachelor's Degree Required, Master's Degree preferred in Education, Adult Education or related field. Minimum of 3 years teaching experience preferably with ELL levels and adults. Ability to obtain Maine Department of Education Certification as Adult Education Teacher or grades 7-12 Teacher.
  • Experience working with adults, at-risk individuals, and or multilingual learners.
  • Demonstrated excellent customer service skills, problem-solving ability and is able to work independently. Skill in effective communication (both written and oral).
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for promoting programs and services.
  • Knowledge of project management principles.
  • Ability to apply analytical and critical thinking skills, as well as draw conclusions and prepare accurate reports of results.
  • Interest in participating in the school community outside of the classroom.
