We are currently seeking an experience Lead Laboratory Support Assistant to join our Laboratory Team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties and Responsibilities essential to performing the job successfully include all the skills and competencies described in the competency checklist associated with each position. Each staff member is responsible for maintaining the skills necessary to perform the technical aspects of their job. Staff members provide care appropriate to the condition and age of patients, including geriatric, pediatric and general population. Staff is responsible for the care and safety of patients and maintaining patient confidentiality at all times. Staff is responsible for communicating the mission and vision of the hospital as well as developing effective working relationships with patients, providers, and fellow caregivers.
The Lead Laboratory Support is responsible for performing a variety of functions that ultimately create an exceptional patient experience by fulfilling their laboratory needs.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Hospital Policies: Adheres to all hospital, and regulatory policies and procedures governing clinical laboratory
Customer Service: Handle escalated calls and concerns from providers and patients
Leadership: Demonstrates ability to plan and equitably distribute the daily task of lab support assistants. Will also cover all Lab Support assistant tasks to maintain competencies. Responsible for covering duties of Processing and Phlebotomy Coordinator in their absence during Earned Time Off.
Investigation and Corrective Action: Assist in the investigation of non-conformances and complaints.
Reagent and Supply Management: Monitor the ordering and maintains inventory of laboratory supplies and prepares work orders for laboratory repairs as required.
Scheduling: Assists in preparation of the work schedules of Lab Support Assistants and allocates all resources efficiently to ensure proper coverage of both York and Wells. Takes all call outs and reviews resources to ensure all areas of covered. If unable to cover all locations, Lead Lab Support Assistant will notify Processing / Phlebotomy Coordinator.
Training/Competency: Orients new staff members to the policies and procedures of the department as required. Assists with training and keeping track of all yearly competencies.
Interview: Attends interviews with applicants when available and provides appropriate feedback to leadership.
Departmental Statistics and Metrics: Maintains appropriate records, reports, and statistical information for CAP inspections.
Documentation: Documents activities as necessary.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Basic theoretical and operational job knowledge in phlebotomy.
Must be detail-oriented, have the ability to work independently, establish work priorities for maximum department efficiency.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and Laboratory Information Systems.
Interpersonal skills necessary to deal courteously and effectively with supervisors, co-workers and clients.
Communication skills necessary to handle telephone inquiries from clients.
Education/Licensure/Certifications/Qualifications:
Education and

EXPERIENCE: High School diploma and preferably 5 years minimum phlebotomy experience.
Required Licensed/Certification/Registration: Phlebotomy certification or completion of a structured phlebotomy training course and clinical rotation preferred.
