Full job description Falmouth High School is seeking a dynamic and innovative full-time English teacher for the 2025-2026 school year only. The ideal candidate is passionate about supporting and inspiring the growth and development of clear and effective communicators, makes strong connections with adolescents, and is highly skilled in differentiation for a range of learners. They will teach a range of student-centered classes designed to empower learners, as well as work with students in small groups and in 1:1 settings to provide additional support. Other full-time faculty responsibilities include serving as an advisor and taking an active role in the school community in support of student learning and wellness. Falmouth teachers are expected to engage in ongoing professional learning, authentic collaboration with other faculty and staff, and regular goal-setting and reflection.
The ideal candidate:
  • Stays up to date on current research, utilizes high-impact instructional strategies, and strives to continually improve their practice
  • Understands the need to establish clear expectations, routines, and procedures to provide a respectful, safe, positive, student-centered environment that maximizes opportunities for student learning
  • Utilizes relevant data to measure student progress, guide instructional planning and delivery, and provide timely feedback to students, parents, and stakeholders
  • Is committed to supporting diverse learners and strives to develop learning experiences that are culturally responsive
  • Is capable of teaching a broad spectrum of classes and excited by the prospect of interdisciplinary instruction
  • Possesses the ability to differentiate instruction and maintains an inclusive mindset
  • Leans into collaboration and is willing to learn and share with colleagues
  • Thoughtfully integrates technology to enhance education in the classroom
  • Demonstrates professionalism through positive collegial interactions and collaborative relationships with other teachers
  • Possesses excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Is a reflective practitioner and seeks regular feedback from students and colleagues and adjusts lessons and courses accordingly

Qualifications:
  • Current Maine Teaching Licensure (English 7-12)
  • Experience preferred
  • Approved background check (run by the district).
