PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Carries out delegated tasks under the direction of the RN
  • Prepares stretchers and OR beds.
  • Documents in the medical record, as necessary including but not limited to scanning documents and opening new medical records.
  • Assists in maintaining adequate inventory of all areas of the ASC
  • Maintains and organizes linen inventory, transfers soiled linen to the designated area.
  • Assists in routine unit operations as directed/needed to assure smooth communication and functioning of the unit.
  • Follows universal precautions.
  • Completes incident reports per policy.
  • Cross trained to other specialties performed within the department including but not limited to patient check in, cleaning, and sterilizing instruments, preparation for the following days surgeries.
  • Maintains unit training requirements and attends staff meetings
  • Provides point of care testing and maintains quality control testing.
  • Contributes to the delivery of safe, efficient and quality patient care as delegated by the Registered Nurse
  • Assists with room turnover, cleaning, patient positioning, obtaining supplies/equipment and patient transportation for discharge.
  • Assembles and maintains supplies for anesthesia.
  • Applies principles of infection control and safety, including proper handling, cleaning, and or disposal of equipment/supplies used in all cases.
  • Advocates the mission, philosophy, and core values of InterMed’s mission statement.
  • Maintains collaborative, team relationships with peers and colleagues to effectively contribute to the working groups achievement of goals, and to help foster a positive work environment.
  • Adheres to all InterMed and ASC policies and procedures.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • High school graduate or GED equivalent
  • Current Certified Nursing Assistant certification
  • Current BLS required.
  • At least one year of related experience is required; previous experience in Ambulatory Surgery Center setting preferred.
  • Preferred Certification in Sterile Processing
  • Ability to differentiate between clean, contaminated, and sterile areas.
  • Proficient with Windows based computer applications
    • Accurate transcribing and data entry skills
    • Excellent typing and accurate documentation of patient encounter
  • Excellent communication skills and strong “Customer Service” orientation
  • Ability and willingness to provide excellent customer service to patients, InterMed colleagues and vendors.
  • Ability to work independently and accurately.
  • Ability to work well in a busy environment.
  • Flexibility and willingness to work as a team member.

Schedule:

Approved: Two 9-hr days per week (18 hours total)
