Planning & Urban Development Department
The City of Portland is looking for a Planning and Urban Development Director to join its leadership team helping to run Maine’s largest and most complex municipality. Portland’s Planning and Urban Development Department is responsible for shaping the city through its many strategic initiatives, including primary responsibility for shepherding Portland’s Plan 2030, the City’s Comprehensive Plan, which serves as a policy guide for the entire city. Other major policy efforts include a Housing Data Dashboard, a significant ReCode project, and many others. In addition to the strategic initiatives, the Department is responsible for ongoing development review, historic preservation improvement and enforcement, transportation planning, and other long-range initiatives.
The Director reports to one of the two Assistant City Managers, oversees an operating budget of $1.9 million, and is fully staffed with 17 employees.

Salary & Benefits:
Non-Union position – Grade E82 - The starting salary range is $119,868 - $138,890, annually depending on skills and experience, and the full salary range is up to $151,885.
