The Oncology Scheduler works with the service team to assist in the delivery of direct and indirect patient services in the office setting under the supervision and direction of the Oncology Director. The Oncology Scheduler often provides the first and last patient contact of an encounter as an integral part of the team to deliver on the mission and vision of YH in providing safe patient and family centered care that is compassionate, timely, effective, efficient, and of the highest quality and patient experience.
This includes, but is not limited to, answering telephone calls, making patient appointments, check-in and check-out services, and routing clinical calls in accordance with practice policies. The Oncology Scheduler greets patients and families, obtains and verifies patient information, confirms insurance information, collects co-pays, creates and updates patient records accordingly. The Oncology Scheduler communicates with patients when necessary of changes in expected schedule, observes strict patient confidentiality in all circumstances, utilizing of skills in organization, planning, implementing, and screening to provide exceptional patient experiences and office work flow through the use of hospital and practice standards of service. This Position is responsible for performing appointment scheduling for a high-volume multi-physician specialty care practice, including coordination of Chemotherapies, and treatment plans.
Qualifications & Personal Qualities
Education/Licensure/Certifications/Qualifications
High school diploma or GED, higher education preferred.
Experience & Skills
Prior Oncology scheduling experience preferred, but not required.
One-year related experience in customer service and/or training in a health care practice setting preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of medical terminology, prior customer service experience preferred.
