Job Summary:

The Clinical R.N. Nurse Consultant (CNC) is responsible for providing nursing oversight to residents/program and other professionals of the Goodwill N.N.E Residential Services Program. The CNC will provide clinical oversight and specialty related education, training and support to staff within residential homes. The role will help to oversee, review and coordinate any medical/physical support and outcome measures of client care with Residential Homes. R.N. Nurse Consultant demonstrates client-centered services, quality health improvement, and timeliness and efficiency of care. The goals of this position will focus on the need for best practices in medical related services, education, on-site training and support to Residential Services

  • The Clinical RN Nurse Consultant is expected to:T
  • Develop and facilitate the implementation and evaluation of medical management and support of client care plans for residents with complex health needs.
  • Respond to immediate needs of clients who are hospitalized or experience a health-related condition.
  • Participate in treatment planning process with resident and resident’s team.
  • Provide positive health promotion/preventative health supports and guidance, disease management, in-home medical treatments and rehabilitative care.
  • Collaborate closely with the RN [Residential] Trainer in the development and delivery of educational resources assisting in identifying and developing specialized educational training resources for Direct Support Professionals (DSP) professionals.
  • Act as a liaison between external medical professionals to promote continuity of care and -ensure program staff are supportive in following the medical care plan.
  • Conduct regular and consistent assessments of program clients helping to identify specific needs in relation to the client’s current level of care and changing medical conditions.
  • Collaborate with program management to ensure best practices of medication administration.
  • Conduct reviews of residents’ medication and medication administration record (MAR).
  • Conduct on-site training and support to staff in relation to specific client/resident medical issues/needs including use of adaptive equipment, medical support apparatus and medication administration.
  • Ensures effective delivery and support of quality patient care for consumers with difficult to manage behaviors.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities and the CARF accreditation process.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current State of Maine License as a Registered Nurse
  • CRMA Train-the-trainer certified within 6 months of hire
  • Current basic level American Red Cross Adult CPR (or higher level) certification or equivalent
  • 3-5 years’ experience in similar training position and/or organization
  • Ability to use a PC to include e-mail, Internet, and Microsoft Office software and effectively use AV equipment
  • Demonstrated ability to develop learning objectives & curriculum for training/instruction
  • Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning theory and adult learning styles
  • Prior experience in presentations to groups up to 50 people
  • Reliable transportation with proof of auto insurance
  • Valid driver’s license permitting operation of a vehicle in the State of Maine with a satisfactory driving record
  • Criminal background check that meets Agency standards

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Completion of Maine’s CRMA “Train the Trainer” course
  • CPR and First Aid licensed Instructor
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and problem solving capabilities
  • Strong organization and attention to detail
