Status Hours: 40hr/wk
Cary Medical Center has an exciting opportunity for a Prior Authorization Specialist to join our team. The successful applicant will obtain pre-certifications and pre-authorizations for procedures and medications, scheduling appointments for outpatient testing with other providers, and coordinates appointments with orders.
Duties Include but are not limited to:
1.Review all referrals for accuracy of patient demographics and requested service.
2.Contact insurance carriers to verify patient’s insurance eligibility, benefits, and requirements (viapayer website or by phone as required by payor).
3.Request, track and obtain pre-authorization from insurance carriers within time allotted formedical and services.
4.Request, follow up and secure pre-authorization prior to services being performed.
5.Input any new/updated information into patient’s electronic medical account.
Requirements
1.High School Diploma or GED
2.Associates Degree, Medical Office Specialist preferred
3.Prior authorization or Pre-certification preferred
4.Experience in a medical related field preferred
Schedule:
With consideration to our patients’ and staff needs, you may need to work on days, evenings, nights, weekends and/or holidays and may need to float to other units.
