Maine Veterans’ Homes is an independent nonprofit organization dedicated to serving Maine’s veterans and families. The Activities Supervisor is responsible for planning, organizing, developing, directing, and coordinating the Activities Program in accordance with current federal, state, and VA regulations and MVH policies and procedures to assure an ongoing Activities program which is designed to meet the interests and the physical, mental and psychosocial well-being of each resident to the greatest extent possible. Directly supervises full time and volunteer staff.
Requirements
- Must have effective leadership and administrative skills and ability to develop, organize and direct a group of staff and volunteers to provide quality services to our residents.
- Must be knowledgeable of state, federal and VA regulations for Activities in residential, skilled and long-term care programs.
- Must have professional knowledge of the methods and practice of activities and recreation for the geriatric population.
- Position requires an Associates Degree in Recreational Therapy or related field.
- Must possess a Certificate of Completion of State approved patient activities coordinator program.
- A minimum of three years of experience in a long-term care setting with program emphasis in patient activities. Additional years of long-term care activities experience may be substituted for degree, or an advanced degree may be substituted for years of experience, as approved by the Administrator.
- CNA certification required.
- Must possess a current and valid State of Maine Driver’s License in good standing
- Requires proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Ability to understand and respond to residents’ needs and inquiries in English is required.
- Ability to effectively understand and communicate verbally and in writing, in English, is required.
- Basic computer skills.
