AQUATIC LEADER
Parks, Recreation & Facilities Department
– 37.5 hours/week (flexible schedule including nights and weekends) -
We are looking for someone who loves the water and working within the community. Primary responsibilities of this full-time position involve formulating, managing and directing a comprehensive array of aquatic programs and activities in one or more facilities. A Bachelor’s degree in Recreation or combination of aquatic training and experience is desired. Must have prior experience assisting with evaluating, developing and managing programs, facilities and the safety of each. Also must have considerable knowledge of a variety of aquatic activities, and possess the ability to direct them. Must have experience organizing, leading and instructing specific aquatic programs and experience working with preschool, youth, teens and adult / senior adult patrons. Experience working with diverse populations and experience supervising and managing staff. Working knowledge of Google Suite, computer experience and the ability to keep data and prepare reports. Duties & Responsibilities:
- Formulating, managing and directing a comprehensive array of aquatic programs and activities in one or more facilities.
- Schedules and supervises the work of subordinate staff at aquatic sites.
- Assists in the hiring of staff.
- Assists staff and department in the evaluation of programs and the development of new programs.
- Monitors and manages the safety of programs and facilities.
- Oversees and regulates the scheduling of assigned facilities.
- Assists in the promotion of programs by writing program development plans, preparing brochures and flyer information. Also assists in disseminating information through the media, schools or community centers.
- Monitors and prepares reports on program and facility use. Collects fees and keeps records of fees collected and deposited.
- Communicates regularly with program participants, parents, school administrators and facility staff.
- Performs emergency First Aid and CPR as needed, within the limitations of the specific certification.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Recreation or combination of aquatic training and experience is desired.
- American Red Cross Lifeguarding with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid, and American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor required.
- American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor and Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) preferred.
- Must possess a valid Class C driver's license in good standing.

Salary & Benefits:
This is a Pro-Tech Union position, Grade 6, Starting Pay Range - $26.27 - $30.46/hour, depending on experience.
