JOB SUMMARY:  

Assists in the immediate care of patients, perform duties as instructed by provider, and assists in clerical duties as necessary.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Greet and escort patients to the appropriate room.
  • Verify V/S’s, height, weight, medications, medical/surgical history, allergies, family history, as well as social history.
  • Ensure adequate supplies and medications are available in the office, communicate needs to the staff member responsible for ordering.
  • Assist patients/providers with script refills as needed.
  • Assist patients with Medication Assistance Program as needed.
  • Assist with filling out of Pre-Authorization forms as needed.
  • Completes demographics on forms for providers (i.e., DMV, Disability, ML, FMLA)
  • Complete chart preparation for upcoming days. (Look at the last progress note and make sure lab results, diagnostic testing results, and consult reports are available in time for visit when applicable).
  • Have appropriate eCW training and stay up to date will all changes as they arise.
  • Have appropriate HMS training and stay up to date with changes as they arise.
  • Stay current with ACO measures and prepare charts to reflect measures needing to be met for each patient.
  • Complete and verify required tracking logs in the practice to include MMG, Pathology, and Coumadin Therapy. Insure appropriate patient communication and documentation.
  • Work very closely with your provider to ensure patients with Narcotic Contracts are following the requirements of the contract. Communicate concerns. Actively use the PMP to monitor compliance.
  • Patient education (Maintain appropriate level of handouts for different age groups).
  • Maintain the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for the age of the patients being served.
  • Maintain sterilization of instruments, follow protocols.
  • Perform CLIA waived tests, when necessary (i.e., Glucometer, Rapid Strep, Urine dips, etc.), Complete competencies yearly. (Demonstration and written tests)
  • Maintain Practice environment. Understand and follow compliance with RHC guidelines, licensing, accreditation requirements and assure compliance with CLIA requirements.
  • Perform or assist with special skilled interventions such as wound care, cast removal, etc. (i.e., Orthopedics, General Surgery, and other offices)
  • Perform such related duties not listed herein but deemed in the best interest of the Medical Practices and NMMC.
