ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Completes evaluations, therapy, and caregiver/team education to promote safe feeding, adjusting approach to fit patients of all ages
  • Plans and implements individual/group speech-language pathology treatments
  • Instructs patients on at-home exercises
  • Evaluates effectiveness of treatment at various stages and adjusts plan of care to achieve maximum benefits
  • Collaborates with other disciplines to arrange for appropriate follow-up care
  • Coordinates with lead therapist and manager to implement clinical workflows
  • Provides services in a variety of settings, including outpatient clinic, group, and telemedicine
  • Records evaluations, daily treatment notes, monthly progress notes, and discharge summaries timely and completely
  • Discharges patients from services when goals or projected outcomes have been attained and provide appropriate follow up care or referrals
  • Assists in training and orientation of new staff
  • Communicates appropriate equipment and space needs to lead therapist and manager
  • Maintains clean, organized, and unobstructed treatment area
  • Develops and maintains patient education material
  • Participates in continuing education opportunities to ensure effective, evidence-based practice
  • Provides in-service education to rehab and medical staff
  • Treats all patients with respect and maintains confidentiality of patient information

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • A minimum of master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution
  • Unencumbered active Speech-Language Pathologist license in the state of Maine
  • At least 1 year of clinical experience in the outpatient setting
  • Organizational skills to set priorities and efficiently complete assigned work
  • Demonstrates effective communication methods including written, verbal, non-verbal, and electronic
  • Efficiency in learning and utilization of electronic medical record systems
  • Listens to and acknowledges the concerns of patients and peers
  • Makes effective decisions that reflect clear and logical thinking
  • Demonstrates flexibility in examining new approaches in response to changing organizational objectives
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) is required
  • Able to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to demonstrate and uphold InterMed’s Values

Required

Masters or better in Speech-Language Pathology.
