ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Clinical Functions:

  • Assessment of provider schedules and organize patient flow
  • Assist providers with patient care:
  • Rooming patients as needed
  • Maintain data registries and Meaningful Use information
  • Medication reconciliation of non-complex medication lists
  • Take vital signs and weight
  • Perform point of care testing as directed by provider
  • Perform screenings per provider guidelines
  • Assist providers with clinical and diagnostic procedures
  • Administer regular routine medications including vaccines per provider’s orders
  • Input patient care orders after Provider has noted them in patients progress note
  • Document all clinical data correctly and appropriately in patient’s EHR
  • Process patient communication per Provider approval and oversight
  • Preload patient records prior to routine visit per provider protocol and oversight
  • Refill patient medications according to protocol per provider approval and oversight
  • Prepare, stock and clean exam room(s), maintain supplies and equipment for treatment
  • Maintain clinical environment with attention to safety and infection control
  • Maintain clinical equipment including routine checks, calibration, cleaning and repairing
  • Maintain point of care testing supplies
  • Maintain stock and ordering of clinical and administrative supplies
  • Maintain proper stock, storage and handling of vaccine supply, order accordingly
  • Accurate documentation of all vaccine records

Administrative Functions:

  • Obtain Referral information
  • Completing forms/requisitions as needed
  • Answer incoming telephone calls to the pod
  • Schedule patients for all routine appointments, follow ups and ancillary appointments
  • Complete forms necessary for patient appointments (including printing, assembling, and mailing patient packets)
  • Monitor and prioritize encounters and actions from pod admin bucket
  • Monitoring of administrative supplies in the pod
  • Troubleshooting of telehealth visits with physicians and patients
  • Obtain outside records as needed (hospital notes, labs, imaging, new patient records, etc.) and communicate directly with HIM
  • Initiate call to pharmacy to confirm if PAs are needed
  • Reschedule patients for providers out of the office (vacation, sick days, OB, etc.)
  • Check patients out as capacity allows and follow up with any patient who did not check out from their appointment if necessary (front desk will send TE)
  • Print specimen labels. Print AWVs. Print visit summaries. Fax notes to outside specialists
  • Excellent professional judgment, phone skills and decision-making ability
  • Work collaboratively with all team members
  • Demonstrate initiative, responsibility and flexibility
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks
  • Ability and willingness to provide excellent customer service to patients, InterMed colleagues and vendors
  • Maintain confidentiality and compliance in all patient care activities
  • Participate in continuing and professional education
  • Complete InterMed clinical competence expectations with provider check/sign off
  • Special projects as assigned by coordinator or manager

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Successful completion of accredited Medical Assistant program or CMA or RMA certification; or must obtain within 6 weeks of hire
  • Strongly preferred: Certified Cardiographic Technician (CCT) or equivalent
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
  • Proficient in Windows applications, electronic medical record preferred
