Position Responsibilities:

Precise, accurate, professional and friendly filling and dispensing of prescription and non-prescription medications to retail customers and practitioners.

Inventory control and supervision

Counsel patients and practitioners on proper drug usage and selection according to good pharmacy practice and all pertinent regulations

Excellent telephone skills

Perform to customer's satisfaction all financial transactions

Working knowledge of Maine and Federal pharmacy regulations

Knowledgeable in McKesson pharmacy operating system as well as Microsoft and QuickBooks

Compound prescriptions

Maintain a clean, neat work environment

Maintain appropriate levels of dispensing supplies

Illustrate the proper usage of any item for sale or rent in the pharmacy

Knowledgeable in third party insurance benefits policies and procedures

Direct and instruct ancillary personnel as required, especially in the absence of the pharmacist-in-charge

Participate in staff meetings

Act as a pharmaceutical resource for medical, legal and ethical information

Relay pertinent customer and employee discussions or questions to the pharmacist-in-charge

Core Skills:

Complies with policies / procedures

Completes assigned duties within designated time

Provides quality customer service

Extensive knowledge of State of Maine Pharmacy Regulations and Federal Pharmacy Laws & Regulations


Active Maine pharmacist license in good standing required

Demonstrated competency in pharmacy practice required

Certified with the State of Maine to Administer Drugs and Immunizations required

Bachelors of Science in Pharmacy required

Required Externship for licensure required

Physical Requirements:

Sitting, standing for extended periods of time of 4 or more hours

stooping, reaching, bending, walking, stretching

Lifting and carrying of up to 45 pounds, up to several times per shift, for a distance of up to 120 feet.

Light housekeeping and snow removal as required

Climbing a stepladder or stool

Opening and closing, unassisted, prescription vials and other bottles and containers

Corrected vision and adequate hearing

Able to adequately communicate verbally, in writing and via keyboarding with staff, prescribers and customers

Assist in moving or re-setting store fixtures and equipment as required

Work Environment:

A busy, often times dynamic Professional Pharmacy Setting

This position requires flexibility, regular attendance according to the work schedule stated in the offer letter and/or the Personnel Action Document, the understanding that position responsibilities may vary at times, the need to be receptive to additional responsibilities that may be reasonably assigned by the Supervisor and the knowledge that processes are subject to change per organizational growth.
