Our Police Department has a great relationship with the community and strong support from residents, city council, and city management. We have a new fleet of vehicles, and we will provide the training, experience, and tools needed for you to reach your maximum potential. Officers are provided with cutting edge equipment, uniforms, and all related apparel.
The basic duties of a police officer include patrolling, traffic enforcement, responding to calls for service and addressing community concerns related to crime and quality of life issues. The initial training consists of an 18-week academy, and a field training period.
Compensation and Benefits:
Police officer starting pay: $27.61 per hour with up to 80 hours of vacation.

Must be at least 21 years of age and meet the Maine Criminal Justice Academy (MCJA) entrance standards for education, physical fitness, and criminal history.
Must pass ALERT tests administered by the MCJA and complete Pre-Service Training Program Phases I & II.
