Job Summary: Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Housekeeping & Laundry
Departments. Provide leadership for employees within the Department by role modeling professional standards. Has 24/7 accountability for the overall direction of the housekeeping and laundry departments ensuring the hospital environment is in a sanitary, attractive, and orderly condition. Continuously collaborate with the Chief Operating Officer on all Housekeeping and Laundry issues.
Essential Duties:
Demonstrate a positive and professional attitude with proven leadership skills.
Ability to supervise personnel and maintain staff’s focus on department goals.
Identify emergency/crisis situations and utilizes critical thinking skills.
Take an active role with the ongoing development of staff, including completion of performance appraisals and disciplinary processes.
Collaborate with the Chief Operating Officer to ensure Quality Management objectives are met.
Interviews, hires, and oversees orientation of housekeeping and laundry employees
Oversees appropriate staffing of the housekeeping and laundry departments, including completion of timecards/payroll for employees
Maintain own individual professional growth.
Conflict resolution is done promptly and privately.
Demonstrate ability to work with others in a team structure and build rapport with staff.
Maintain an ongoing dialogue with the Chief Operating Officer regarding staff performance, problems or potential problems, areas of concern, ideas for improvement/change, and plans of action.
Delegate duties or tasks as needed to assure compliance with standards or to fulfill unit department needs, including scheduling and coordination of shift coverage.
Participate in the department’s annual budget process.
Collaborate with Director the Chief Operating Officer in the updating of Department policies and procedures
Complies with local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
Requirements
Education, Skills, Experience Requirements:
- Positive interpersonal and team building skills 2. Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Ability to organize and prioritize.
- Associate or Bachelor of Business Administration or at least 5 years of managerial experience preferred.
Educational Requirements:
1. High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
2. Ability to work unsupervised and relate professionally with other hospital staff.
3. Ability to read and write at least at the eighth-grade level.
