MAINE STATE LEGISLATURE
The Maine Legislature’s Office of Policy and Legal Analysis, a nonpartisan staff office of the Legislative Council, is seeking applicants for a Legislative Analyst position. Employees in this position are expected to work in a highly confidential, professional and nonpartisan manner.
Examples of Responsibilities. Responsibilities of the Legislative Analyst include analyzing policy and legal issues for legislative committees and legislators, staffing joint standing and select committees and special study commissions of the Legislature, preparing study reports, conducting research, and drafting legislation. Evening and weekend work is often required during the legislative session or may be required depending on legislative needs.
Desired Minimum Qualifications. A successful candidate must possess an advanced degree and demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills; strong organizational skills; and the ability to work effectively with committees and groups.
Salary and Benefits. The salary range for this position is $59,009 to $86,049. The value of State-paid health and dental insurance is currently $413.34 biweekly. The value of the State’s share of retirement is 15.37% of the employee’s gross salary.
