New Mainers Resource Center Coordinator
Term of employment choose: Grant funded position through 06/30/26. Position
continuation dependent on additional grant funding.
Overview: This position will work to expand existing programming offered by the
New Mainers Resource Center. The center helps foreign-born residents overcome
barriers to entering Maine’s workforce, assists New Mainers in obtaining professional
licenses and credentials in the U.S., and connects employers to qualified candidates.
The Coordinator will work with local employers to help identify and mitigate barriers
to meaningful employment for credentialed immigrant workers. In collaboration
with similar centers in Portland and Lewiston, this position will meet the unique
needs of internationally-trained workers through the NMRC.
Position Description:
Bangor Adult Education is seeking a Coordinator to support the goals of the New
Mainers’ Resource Center (NMRC). The Coordinator will work under the supervision
of the local program Director along with the Senior Program Coordinator at Portland
Adult Education.
The Coordinator will support internationally-trained individuals through a skilled
professionals program, career advising, credential evaluation
and translation support, workshops, and other offerings. These offerings identify how
internationally-trained professionals can adapt their experience, credentials, and skill
sets to their current, American context to enter the U.S. workforce at the highest
level possible. The program provides outreach, support, and subject matter expertise
to agencies and individuals across the state in addition to conducting policy
research and advocacy as appropriate.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Develop Educational Development Plans (EDP) for New Mainer students and
foreign trained professionals addressing English abilities, professional
backgrounds, licensing goals, employment goals, skills strengths/weaknesses,
job readiness skills, educational goals, etc. Provide other educational/career
support assistance to participants as needed.
2. Building off of NMRC work to date, research academic pathways for foreign
trained professionals in key target industries, collate information and develop
accessible learning platforms for students.
3. Provide advising and assistance to students in carrying out their EDPs and to
move forward on their educational training and licensing pathways. Maintain
accurate and up to date student files according to NMRC, PAE and grant
requirements. Provide required data and reports for grants related to the
position.
4. Work closely with the NMRC Senior Coordinator, along with participating
adult education staff, to screen and register students into appropriate classes.
5. Assist with the development, promotion and provision of group activities such
as workshops, networking events, training provider or licensing referrals, and
other activities related to professional licensing for foreign trained
professionals.
6. Conduct outreach and work with community groups and educational and
service providers and employer partners to meet needs of foreign trained
professionals and incumbent workers.
7. Work with NMRC staff on content for marketing and communications:
develop an online presence for promotion of local NMRC services and
communications/outreach with service providers and community groups.
8. Collect, track and analyze program data. Assist with all aspects of grant
reporting.
9. Other duties as assigned by the Director.
Required Skills/Qualifications:
? Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in related field
? Familiarity with the Maine workforce system, including employers,
educational institutions and training providers, and other stakeholders
? Experience with Multilingual learners
? Excellent customer service, communication, organization, and technology
skills
? Research skills
? Self-motivated with a high degree of flexibility
? Ability to manage time, set priorities, plan & implement projects with little
supervision
? Ability to work professionally and ethically within a multicultural setting,
including ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy of persons,
documents, data and communications
Preferred:
? Experience working with with multicultural communities
? Familiarity withAdult Education and its programming preferred
? Ability to speak multiple languages
? Previous experience in education, workforce, or community development

Credential Requirements:
Bachelor Degree
Maine State fingerprint (CHRC) authorization.
