Certified Nursing Assistant, CNA/Unit Secretary - Medical Surgical
Under the supervision of the Charge Nurse or Staff Nurse, the CNA/Unit Secretary of the Inpatient Care Services Team performs various duties assisting in the care of patients in accordance with the established protocol, policies and procedures of Miles Memorial Hospital and coordinates and organizes clinical duties of the unit by acting as a contact person, receptionist and secretary.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Graduate of a State Approved CNA program. Previous experience preferred, however, new graduates considered.
Must possess and exhibit excellent customer service, communication and telephone skills. Needs typing and computer skills at a basic to intermediate level.
Successfully passed the State of Maine Certifying Exam for CNA's.
Current Basic Life Support certification.
Maintains required 12 CEU hours annually.
Ability to read and comprehend clear instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write clear correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers. Ability to perform operations using units of American money and weight measurements, volume and distance.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
