Join Our Team as a Teaching Assistant at KidsPeace!
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and supporting their educational and behavioral growth? KidsPeace is looking for a compassionate, dedicated, and motivated Teaching Assistant to join our team at the KidsPeace School in Old Town!
As a Teaching Assistant, you’ll play a key role in supporting the teacher with the delivery of therapeutic service plans, instructional systems, and lesson plans for school-age children with developmental disabilities and emotional disorders. This is a rewarding opportunity to work in a supportive, team-oriented environment where you can help make a meaningful impact in the lives of children.
What You’ll Do:
Assist the teacher with instructional planning and lesson implementation, maintaining accurate student records, setting up activities, and supporting students as needed.
Support the implementation of behavior modification systems and provide crisis prevention techniques when necessary.
Demonstrate care, compassion, respect, and ethical behavior with students while building positive relationships and maintaining appropriate boundaries.
Communicate relevant student information to the treatment team in a timely manner to support individualized care and treatment plans.
Provide supervision and additional support in the classroom to ensure a safe and structured learning environment.
What We’re Looking For:

EDUCATION: 90+ college credits required. College degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE: Some experience working with children with developmental disabilities and emotional disorders is a plus.
Certification: Must obtain and/or maintain Maine State Education Technician Certification.
Skills: Basic computer knowledge and skills required.
