OVERVIEW:                                                               

The Department of Administrative and Financial Services (DAFS) Office of Information Technology (OIT) provides information technology support to over 13,000 employees.  OIT oversees large scale enterprise applications that support the critical and diverse business needs of the State of Maine and its agencies.

 

ABOUT THE JOB DETAILS:

You will perform technical services work in an integrated computer network environment. 

You will have an exciting opportunity to work on a full range of system administration functions requiring a technical computer support background. 

You will be on a super high performing team with highly skilled IT professionals to support multi-user work groups crossing functional unit lines.  This will include a full range of multi-user network operating system administration responsibilities.

Responsibilities include working with development personnel to set up and run application vulnerability assessments, analyzing scan results, explaining to technical and non-technical individuals the risk of scan results; working with team members to assist with incident response and malware identification and remediation; assist with a rich variety of training offerings for the enterprise.  

Supervision may be exercised over lower level technical personnel.  Work is performed under limited supervision.  Team work is essential. We all help each other, regardless of our roles, thus a multi-technical skilled candidate with a diverse background in systems is preferred, and consideration will be provided to a candidate with knowledge of our State of Maine systems.  The position is in Augusta.

                                        
WHAT WILL YOU DO?           

  • Scan applications to identify vulnerabilities and assist with remediation .
  • Train and support staff to ensure familiarity with new products and procedures.
  • Answer inbound support calls to assist customers with information technology related issues.
  • Participate in the development of internal data management plans and coordinates plans and activities with personnel of other agencies to avoid duplication of efforts, share information, and maximize system efficiency.
  • Participate in the planning, implementation, and management of special projects to develop project management skills and provide assistance in achieving agency information systems objectives.
  • Research, analyze, recommend, install, and configure hardware, software, and networks for PC’s/servers with multi-user operating and/or networking systems to establish and maintain agency information systems.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Six (6) years’ experience performing system administration functions in a LAN/WAN environment -OR- an Associate’s Degree from an accredited educational institution in computer information systems or directly related field and four (4) years’ experience performing system administration functions in a LAN/WAN environment -OR- a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited educational institution in computer information systems or directly related field and two (2) years’ experience performing system administration functions in a LAN/WAN environment.

Preference will be given to applicants who are experienced in use of Malware, and newly developed tools to support vulnerability testing.  Security of systems is your passion. Customer service and presentation skills with the capability to interact with all levels of the workforce is expected.

JOB CLASS CODE: 0931                  PAY GRADE: 23         SALARY:   $42,910.40 - $58,073.60/annually*

*Includes a 15% recruitment and retention salary adjustment and eligibility for a 5% annual training bonus

 

BENEFITS

The value of State’s share of Employee’s Retirement:  15.12% of salary for BU positions.  The value of State-paid Dental Insurance:  $13.13 biweekly.  The value* of State-paid Health Insurance: 

  • Level 1:  100% State Contribution (employee pays nothing):  $427.57 biweekly
  • Level 2:    95% State Contribution (employee pays 5%):  $406.19 biweekly
  • Level 3:    90% State Contribution (employee pays 10%):  $384.81 biweekly
  • Level 4:      85% State Contribution (employee pays 15%):  $363.43 biweekly 

*The level of the actual value of state paid Health Insurance will be based on the employee’s wage rate and status with regard to the health credit premium program.
