General Summary:
The role is responsible for helping to manage and evolve existing expanded solutions products and/or launch new opportunities in adjacent markets in the US, from evaluation of markets through to product development, and for supporting the development of the business' long-term growth strategy. This role will be accountable for leading assigned projects in line with Unum Services priorities, working closely with the AVP.Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Support development of Unum Services Expansion’s strategy and strategic priorities by identifying, analyzing, and addressing complex business issues and developing actionable plans
- Provides leadership in the refinement of long-term product roadmap and value story for launched expanded services
- Ownership of overall project plan, including accountability to effectively partner with internal stakeholders as relevant (e.g., Product Development, IT, etc.) to deliver new product initiatives and progress on existing pilots and business processes
- Key business partner working with IT to own business perspective and voice of customer for ongoing product development work
- Drive general data and analysis, including but not limited to reporting on launched products, business case analysis of new features, and ongoing business support (e.g., business reporting tasks, financial modeling, etc.), coordinating with analytics team as applicable
- Ability to drive special projects evaluating new strategic initiatives on existing products (e.g., new distribution opportunities, cross enterprise collaboration, partnerships, etc.)
- Identify, analyze, and prioritize new market/partnership development opportunities through extensive competitive research, local market sales and service activities, strong understanding of businesses adjacent to Unum and important macro trends (expansion opportunities for existing products, as well as adjacencies for growth)
- Engage and collaborate with external startup partners across the ecosystem to identify and execute upon user experience enhancements or to increase user engagement.
Job Specifications
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- 5-7 years of experience in business strategy, corporate finance, business management, product management or consulting or in benefits industry preferred
- Comfortable working with stakeholders across the organization with varied levels of seniority
- Assimilate and adapt to Unum’s culture while managing change using strong influencing skills, while operating in a new/unfamiliar environment, and working effectively within a highly matrixed organization.
- Strong general business acumen required, and ideally knowledge of the basic economics of financial services & business services companies
- Entrepreneurial mindset; a self-starter with a problem-solving orientation
- Focused on quick results and fast turnaround, including a consistent focus on output/deliverables
- Very strong problem structuring and analytical skills, including a quantitative mindset
- Very strong verbal, written communication skills, including presentation writing. Ability to translate complexity with clarity, including for senior leadership audiences
- Superior project management skills; strong collaborator
- Fast paced, comfortable with tight deadlines, multiple priorities, fast turnaround times and ambiguity
- Strong team player given startup/collaborative nature of the expanded solutions team
- Experience leading teams a plus

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.
$75,500.00-$142,700.00Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not. All benefits are subject to the terms and conditions of individual Plans.
