This is clinical work, performing CT scanning procedures. CT Tech work also includes instruction of students and assisting with clerical functions. Work is performed independently by the CT Technologist and is reviewed by the Chief CT Technologist (with physician feedback) through adherence to established procedures and protocols, and by observation and discussion of results achieved.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
Knowledge of CT scanning equipment, procedures and techniques, radiation safety and protection as well as anatomy and physiology at a level generally acquired through completion of a two year program in an A.M.A. approved school of Radiologic Technology, plus further education in CT scanning and 1-3 months of CT scanning experience.
Knowledge of department policies and procedures as well as familiarity with department equipment and material at a level generally acquired during one to three months on-the-job orientation and training.
Registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist and licensure by the State of Maine.
Analytical ability to determine appropriate method for providing requested scans based on specific individual patient and pathology to ensure diagnostic scans. Must evaluate scans to determine diagnostic quality.
Interpersonal skills necessary to elicit cooperation from patients and gain their cooperation while under going various CT scanning procedures.
