General Purpose: 

Corporate Strategy Manager

Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for leading a portfolio of the most impactful projects and corporate processes that pertain to positioning WEX for long term sustainable growth. 

This is a highly visible and impactful role that will work with all members of WEX’s Executive Leadership Team.  It requires intrinsic comfort with ambiguity, ability to quickly develop insight and defensible recommendations, manage across reporting boundaries, and develop clear, concise, and persuasive communications.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Project conception, structuring, execution, and communication

    • Structure approaches to the most challenging questions to the WEX business

    • Execute qualitative and quantitative research and analysis

    • Directly guide and oversee analyst and business partner resource(s)

    • Develop recommendations, communications, and move senior management toward pragmatic action

    • Expect managing 2-3 projects in concurrence at any given time

  • Planning and governance

    • Support the development of the annual five year strategic plan, closely working with Corporate Finance to chart WEX’s five year financial forecast

    • In partnership with Executive Leadership Team, build annual operating plans at the enterprise, line of business, and corporate function levels

    • Execute quarterly Enterprise Scorecard

  • Maintain perspective on WEX’s operating environment

    • Primary drivers of WEX business

    • Market intelligence

The role is a senior individual contributor role a very small, high impact and highly visible Strategy team within Corporate Development.  The role is based in WEX’s global headquarters in Portland, Maine and requires periodic travel including international travel.

Ideal candidate will have ambition of entering other functions within WEX after ~3 years in role.


Qualifications

 
Minimum Required Qualifications for Consideration:

Desired qualifications:
  • Highly motived, self-directive, and ability to manage many simultaneous activities
  • Strong track record of being able to structure, analyze, defend, and move organizations to impact
  • Highly developed analytical skills
  • Highly developed oral and written communication ability, especially oriented toward compelling action from a senior leadership audience
  • Proven leadership skills managing a cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrated experience with global business
  • Undergraduate degree in quantitative field required; MBA, quantitative masters degree or equivalent work experience desired
  • Deep experience in corporate strategy and strategy project execution, composed of any of the following:
    • 2+ Yrs of Engagement/Project Manager in role experience at a top global consulting firm
    • 5+ years in corporate strategy or consulting
  • Technology, financial services, and/or payments industry background
• Must pass a successful  background investigation
