  • Position Summary

Responsible for playing an integral part of the health care team by providing high quality pharmaceutical services in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. This includes knowledge of medical terminology, math skills, working knowledge of parenteral, chemotherapy and total parenteral nutrition compounding and the ability to maintain cost efficient inventory. Must prove competent in aseptic technique and chemotherapy preparation. This position requires a complete understanding of all essential technician functions including parenteral compounding, controlled substance distribution, billing and auditing. This position will serve as the technician lead and coordinator in regards to compounding operations, compliance, education and training of all staff.

  • Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
    • Minimum of two years hospital pharmacy experience is preferred.
    • At least one year of prior work experience comparable to the duties and responsibilities for the technician generalist.
    • High School diploma or GED preferred.
    • Associate degree is preferred.
    • Eligible or currently licensed in the State of Maine required.
    • Current pharmacy technician certification (CPht) received through examination administered by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) required.
    • Required skills in medical terminology, typing, computer operations, and math calculations.
    • Analytical skills necessary to identify and resolve problems related to medication preparation and distribution.
    • Must complete training and competencies for aseptic technique and chemotherapy compounding.
    • Comprehensive understanding of USP797 and USP800. Knowledge of programs including EPIC, Pyxis, Simplify797, Critical Point preferred.
