Vets First Choice is looking for a sharp, detail-oriented, enthusiastic legal analyst who is ready to join a fast-growing Maine company. A positive, flexible, can-do attitude is a must. Projects will change from day to day, and while the environment can be challenging at times, you will rarely have the same day twice. You will support in-house legal counsel in transactional, regulatory, and litigation matters.

SUMMARY

The Legal Analyst plays an integral role with the legal team at VFC’s corporate headquarters in Portland, Maine, supporting legal functions for the corporate office and VFC’s facilities around the country. You will manage corporate contracts, assist in regulatory filings with state and federal agencies, and provide legal research and assist in advocacy and litigation matters. The Legal Analyst will work in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment implementing and aligning business strategy with corporate legal requirements. The Legal Analyst will also provide great customer service to internal departments, and work closely with outside law firms, financial professionals, consultants, vendors, and others.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with the corporate executive team, corporate finance leadership, attorneys, vendors, and outside law firms in connection with US and international corporate contracts, financing, and regulatory matters.
  • Work closely with the regulatory team at a variety of VFC’s facilities on filings, regulatory actions, and advocacy matters. Provide administrative support for regulatory registrations in fifty US states, and a variety of federal agencies, including managing outside filing services.
  • Manage corporate contracts, including intake, review, drafting, tracking, and execution. Provide general administrative support and coordination on the signing and distribution of various documents. Manage department’s and company’s record retention program.
  • Assist in legal research, fact-gathering, and due diligence in connection with legal, business, litigation and regulatory matters.
  • Communicate effectively and timely with internal clients and external parties on legal, financial, and contract matters.
  • Provide day-to-day support for in house attorneys in working and communicating with internal customers, outside financial and legal counsel, and third-party vendors.
  • Assist with other corporate projects on an as-needed basis.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Variable based on experience.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 3+ years professional work experience; previous financial services, law firm, technology, or pharmaceutical work experience a plus; strong writing skills a major plus.

  • Deep drive to remove process barriers, keep projects on time, and do whatever it takes to complete tasks to the satisfaction of internal customers.
  • Basic working knowledge of MS Office; ability to work with cloud-based databases and other IT applications as needed.
