Specimen Coordinator

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Specimen Coordinator / Lab Assistant to join our Laboratory team. This role plays a critical part in patient care by performing blood draws, basic point-of-care testing, and managing specimen logistics for internal testing and referral laboratories.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection for outpatients, inpatients, and Emergency Room (ER) patients.

• Manage the send-out section for referral laboratories, including batching send-outs using Meditech.

• Perform routine point-of-care testing, including urinalysis dipsticks and rapid tests for COVID-19, Influenza, and RSV, along with other limited lab testing as needed.

• Assist laboratory technicians on weekends with ad-hoc requests and troubleshoot issues related to referral lab specimens.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.

• Certifications: Phlebotomy certification from a recognized national certifying agency preferred.

• Experience: Previous clinical laboratory experience preferred.

Full-time, 36 hours/week with a varied schedule, 6:00 AM – 6:30 PM, Friday – Sunday or Saturday – Monday.
