The headquarters in Portland, ME is seeking a Software Development Manager to be responsible for the execution of technical strategies of the B2C product roadmap in alignment with overall company goals and objectives.A core measurement of success for this individual is to provide technical management and meet software delivery expectations in a competitive and complex business environment. Requirements:

  • Knowledgeable in consumer, mobile, and eCommerce technology.
  • Stays current of new technology developments and examines opportunities to apply the new technology advancements where appropriate.
  • Provides leadership and mentoring to further elevate a group of talented software engineers to a cohesive, high-performing, reliable agile team.
  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related field. 10+ years of relevant work experience, including
    • Mastery of an object-orientedprogramming language (Java)
    • Mastery of a modern scriptinglanguage (preferably JavaScript)
    • Mastery of a modern web applicationframeworks (preferably Spring MVC/React)
    • Mastery of writing SQL queriesagainst a relational database
    • Proficient in modern productdevelopment processes and pipelines
    • Proficient in effectivetroubleshooting and issue resolution techniques
    • Proficient in effective systemmonitoring and log analysis techniques
    • Capable of understandingcomplicated systems quickly
    • Experience in guiding morejunior team members through Software Engineering fundamentals in aprofessional setting
    • Experience with translatinghigh level strategy to tactical execution
    • Hybris programming and/orarchitecture experience is a bonus
    • Extensive Spring Framework experience is a big plus

Responsibilities:

Delivery & Execution:

  • Partners with business and technical leaders to ensure technical solutions support business immediate and future needs.
  • Applies knowledge of business and marketplace to advance the organizations goals. Where appropriate, introduces new technologies and services to deliver a sustainable platform to support our current and future customers.
  • Leads the development team with sprint preparedness and daily technical support to support optimal productivity, innovation, and on-time, high-quality delivery. This occurs in partnership with other team leaders across B2C and other team (e.g., Creative, UX, engineering, B2B, Operations, Compounding).
  • Guides others to create custom code or scripts to automate deployment, monitoring services, and/or unit test cases.
  • Works with vendors and partners for the successful implementation of required applications or platform management
  • In partnership with other leaders across the B2C team, creates meaningful dashboards to support measurement and work management
  • Acts as a technical escalation point for the engineers on the team
  • Operates effectively, even when things are not certain or the way forward is not clear
  • Maneuvers comfortably through complex policy, process, and people-related organizational dynamics

People Management:

  • Creates a climate where people are motivated to do their best to help the organization achieve its objectives
  • Provides leadership, mentoring, and coaching to Software Engineers to allow them to further develop individual strengths
  • Conducts annual and mid-year reviews by reviewing individual development plans and team feedback
  • Guides team members in strategy, alignment, analysis, and execution tasks within B2C and across other product teams
  • Participates in and contributes to learning activities around modern software design and development core practices (communities of practice)
