Eligible candidates will have greater than 2 years (24 months) of CNA work experience.

*Current MaineHealth member employees are ineligible; former MaineHealth Members are ineligible until greater than 6 months separation from employment.*

  • During this time CNA II hires (1+ plus year(s) of experience) are eligible for Featured level Employee Referral bonus ($1000 for full time hires, prorated for part time/per diem). CNA I hires (less than 1 year of experience) will be eligible for standard level Employee Referral bonus: $500 for full time hires, prorated for part time/per diem.
 

Maine Medical Center’s Float Pool offers a unique opportunity for experienced CNAs to expand their knowledge base and sharpen their skill set. A CNA in this position is given the opportunity to train on an array of Med Surg floors, Telemetry units and high acuity settings within Maine’s only Magnet designated hospital and level 1 Trauma Center. The assortment of floors and units a CNA could potentially be assigned to may give way to opportunity to practice in highly sought after specialties once trained on multiple units, including pediatrics and Mother/Baby care, that may not otherwise be available at the time of hire. Candidates applying to the Float Pool must possess the ability to think quickly on their feet, remarkable adaptability and critical thinking expertise. Both full and part time opportunities at Maine Medical Center are benefit eligible positions.

 
  • Position Summary
    • Under supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse and according to established policies and procedures, performs various service duties and routine technical tasks such as taking vital signs and assisting patients with basic hygiene and daily living activities. Specific duties may vary by area of assignment. Consideration of the special needs and behaviors of specific patient populations is required. 
  • Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
    • Must be certified as a Nursing Assistant by the State of Maine and be on the State of Maine Registry, having completed a six-week or equivalent course.
    • Ability to read, write, and speak English in order to follow oral or written instructions and complete standard forms.
    • Ability to perform simple arithmetic calculations.
    • Interpersonal skills necessary to exchange information and maintain courteous relationships with patients, families, visitors, and Maine Medical Center employees.
    • Knowledge of standards, policies, procedures and organizational structure of the unit, the Department of Nursing, and Maine Medical Center.
    • Participates in continuing education relative to role as defined.
