Registered Nurse (RN) - Surgery/Operating Room Internship Program *Licensed New Graduates Welcome
The health care work force of the future should have the knowledge and skills to provide patient-centered, community-focused, cost-effective, clinically-effective, coordinated care. To do these things successfully, the work force must be competent, flexible, and adaptive to changes in health care delivery and technology. The Registered Nurse is responsible for performance of complex, individualized, family oriented nursing care in accordance with policies and procedures under the direct supervision of a charge/shift leader RN.
This role is open to licensed RN’s looking to transition to the specialty of Operating Room Nursing. Incumbents in this role with complete an extensive 6 month Operating Room Training/Internship program, this training will be completed at a combination of Maine Medical Center and Southern Maine Health Care campuses. Following completion of this Internship, the incumbent will begin their role as a full time Operating Room RN at our Biddeford Campus. This training program begins in July, 2019.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
Current licensure from the Maine State Board of Nursing as an R.N. required.
Minimum of one year acute care experience as an R.N. preferred, but not required. Prior Operating Room experience is not necessary as an extensive Operating Room RN training is included in this role.
BLS and ability to perform CPR required.
