Nurse Case Manager
The Maine Municipal Association’s Risk Management Services department is currently accepting resumes for the position of Nurse Case Manager. This position will work primarily with participants in the MMA Workers Compensation Fund. The Fund, established in 1978, is the largest group self-insurer in the State of Maine. The Fund’s members include municipal and quasi-municipal entities located throughout the state.
The Nurse Case Manager will work under the direct supervision of the Claim Manager and will be responsible for providing clinical expertise to the disability management process in workers compensation claims. The Nurse Case Manager will work in a team approach to encourage quality medical treatment for injured employees, enhance communication between employees, medical providers, employers and claims representatives, and facilitate successful return to work programs. The position will be responsible for tracking and analyzing medical costs on a modality and per claim basis, assessing medical outcomes and return to work rates, evaluating the performance of vocational and disability providers, and conducting meetings with preferred providers to review service and cost issues.
Requirements include a current Maine State R.N. license and a minimum of five to seven years of progressively responsible work in medical case management, preferably with workers compensation experience and a bachelor’s degree in nursing. At least one year of nursing experience in a hospital or medical center is expected. Continued education and training in related fields, including disability management, is desirable.
