St. Elizabeth’s Child Development Center in downtown Portland, Maine is recognized as a 5 Star Quality Childcare Center (the highest award there is!), and we currently have an opening for a Full-Time Assistant Teacher for our Toddler classroom.

Definition: The Early Childhood Assistant Teacher provides early care and education within a defined childcare unit (classroom).

Pay: $17.00 - $19.50/hour. Starting salary commensurate with education/experience.

Schedule: Days, Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm

Qualifications:

  • Shall have a minimum of a Child Development Associate (CDA) or equivalent. A 2 year degree is preferred. Note: An option of actively participating in a CDA certification program exists, but prior approval by the Director is needed.
  • shall have one (1) year of experience in the early childhood field.
  • Must be willing to maintain CPR and First Aide Certification.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of standing and frequent bending.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
  • Will be exposed to illness-causing bacteria and viruses.
