Adjunct Faculty within the College of Graduate and Professional Studies (CGPS) are critical to the success of UNE’s online programs. The role of the faculty in CGPS is to facilitate the learning process for online students through timely and effective instruction and communication. Faculty also serves as mentors of Healthcare Informatics students, sharing their experience to help guide students and ensure they achieve their educational and professional goals. The faculty facilitates the retention of students through creating a positive educational environment, allowing for students to derive the maximum benefits from the program in which they are enrolled. Faculty/SMEs will receive supervision, collaboration, and guidance from the Health Informatics Program Manager.

The ideal candidate would possess prior online classroom experience in an educational setting, knowledge of adult learning theory concepts, the ability to effectively communicate with students, and experience developing online educational content in database design, SQL and health informatics.


Provide expert knowledge in the field of database design to include the following skills: Expertise in MySQL Workbench, MacOs and Windows and building databases in MySQL


  • A Master’s degree in Computer Science or comparable. PhD preferred
  • A minimum of two years relevant industry experience, preferable in healthcare information technology
  • Previous experience developing learning content for online graduate students.
  • Previous instructional experience, preferably in an online setting
  • A familiarity with online teaching
  • Experience using the Blackboard Learning Management system a plus
