Patient Access PreServices captures and registers patient demographics, guarantor and insurance information prior to our patient’s appointments, procedures or surgery. We also educate on financial responsibility and collect payments in advance. Patient Access Admitting/ED is responsible for completing patient check-in/arrivals and admissions, which include registration information, coverage verification and financial navigation as well as upfront payments. Both teams partner closely with patient care providers due to the sensitive nature of our patient’s care needs.
The intern in this position will be working with MyChart utilization and reporting, Central scheduling workflows, Check-In Expectations & Completion Rates for Hospital OutPatient Department’s, Departmental New Employee Orientation optimization, BFC Time of Service payments, check out workflow development, scenario bases PSP scripting, and ED check out process optimization.
An intern pursing a degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, and/or Communications is preferred.

Interns provide administrative and project support within their department, and are valued members of each department team.
The MaineHealth Internship Program will run from June 3rd – August 9, 2019, but the intern in this position could start in May.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
Student who is currently enrolled in a four-year degree program in pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Strong analytical thinking.
Must work independently, take initiative to complete assigned projects with minimal direction, and be able to prioritize tasks within an assigned project.
Ability to maintain confidentiality in the performance of duties.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, both oral and written.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products and other technologies as needed.
